Collection: Scatter Cushions

Scatter Cushions made from Mud cloth - also called 'bogolan' - is one of Africa's most unusual and unique textiles. This ornately patterned Malian fabric is made by artisans who soak cotton cloth in a dye bath of tree leaves, then sun-dry and paint repeatedly with fermented mud and can take four to seven days to make, depending on humidity, rain, and weather conditions.

Frequently the cotton used for mudcloth is locally grown and of an un-dyed, beige colour. The knit is looser and more dense than commercial fabric.  We offer several types of mudcloth, including both modern and traditional.

In addition to mudcloth we also offer Raffia Cushion Covers which are the perfect addition to any room. They are hand-crafted from 100% jute material for a beautiful and natural texture often accentuated with beads or shells.
